Our members join together to invest in a better future for the Mathews County community.  We are honored to stand with other community leaders to address our neighbors’ greatest needs. Since 2018, the Mathews Women's Giving Circle has awarded more than $230,000 to local nonprofits and organizations serving women and families of Mathews County, Virginia.

The 2026 Grant Application Period opens September 1 and closes on October 15, 2026.

  • MWGC grants are open to any non-profit or public organization that supports the well-being of women and families in Mathews County.

  • Yes. If your organization serves multiple counties, we recommend you submit an application specifically outlining how the grant will impact women and families in Mathews County, Virginia. The MWGC is more likely to fund your proposal if you include specifics about how your organization will ensure funds will be used in the local area.

Application for Grant

Grant Guidelines:

  • The Mathews Women’s Giving Circle (MWGC) grant program assists a wide range of nonprofit organizations’ projects and/or programs directly benefitting women, children, and/or families in Mathews County, VA.

  • Under the umbrella of our host organization, the Mathews Community Foundation, all MWGC grant applications will be vetted through their standard procedures. 

  • MWGC considers grant requests for well-defined activities/ projects proposed by any nonprofit organization or (public entity) that serve women, children and/or families in Mathews County. Successful applications are those for which an organization (1) proposes to DO something specific with the requested funds, (2) sets clear parameters for use of the requested funds and (3) provides clear metrics of success. 

  • A formal grant request is made by the nonprofit directly to MWGC through a application that is available on our website.
